Do you have an old family document you can’t read?

Have a mysterious ancestor, a black sheep or tumble-weed relative that you yearn to know more about, or find out what came of them?

Curious to look into your family’s tradition about descending from nobility or royalty? Wonder if your family has a coat of arms?

Or none of the above, but wonder from whence you come, just don’t know where and how to start looking into your family’s genealogy?

Let the expertise, experience, and creative mind of professional genealogist Glen W. Covert help you learn more about your ancestors and their times.

Glen W. Covert has been actively conducting genealogical and historical research since 1991. His passion for genealogy started when he began discovering his unique 500-year-old Austrian roots and running up against brick walls on so many other lines in the United States. The family traditions, and lack thereof,

captured his attention. His interest in genealogy, US and European history, and the human condition led to a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and German from Willamette University.

After a brief hiatus from academia, Glen returned to studying history, focusing his attention on his ancestral homeland, the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (specifically the Princely County of Tyrol) and its Habsburg heritage. These studies evolved into a master’s thesis for The University of Chicago, in which he investigated the development of Austrian cultural identity in the 19th century. The thesis required in depth genealogical understanding of the Imperial House of Habsburg-Lothringen, for which Glen’s many years of experience in genealogy became invaluable.

Glen has a published a book and a few articles on genealogy and family cultural heritage.

He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), “Adler” Heraldic-Genealogical Society, and the Austrian Society for Genealogy and History.

Of the now defunct The International Commission and Association on Nobility (TICAN), he was the Genealogy Special Advisor.

He was a judge for the 2016, 2017, and 2018 International Society of Family History Writers and Editors’ “Excellence-in-Writing” competition.
